There are two major ways of changing from relaxed hair to natural hair these are transitioning and cutting your hair.
According to Blacknaps "transitioning is the process of eliminating chemical treatments and allowing hair to grow out while gradually trimming the chemically processed ends.
Tips For Transitioning
1. Hydrate Your Hair: Ensure to keep hair fully hydrated while transioning this can be done by washing hair regularly and conditioning.
2.Avoid Heating- Heating is a natural hair killer it damages the hair and leads to breakage. Avoid using hot irons, blow dryers e.t.c. and if you still want to heat your hair use low heat and at most once a week.
Avoid Chemicals
While transitioning avoid applying chemical products in your hair, don't use relaxers or hair dyes because these products tend to cause hair breakage.
Embrace Protective Hairstyles
Try out different protective hairstyles in other to grow your hair out, try hairstyles like the box braids, faux locks, crochet braids e t c. These hairstyles put less tension to the hair while keeping your ends tucked away.
Deep Condition
To help strengthen and soften hair deep condition regular with moisturising conditioners. Get a good conditioner and deep condition for 30 minutes, 3 times week in other to keep a healthier hair and avoid breakage.
Moisturize
The last tip to transition effectively is moisturizing, get rid of chemical products and embrace organic oils such as castor oil and butters. Use oils such as castor oil and coconut oil to moisturize hair daily and also use Shea butter to make it softer and healthier.
